About Me

Published poet and singer with Buxton Musical Society, living near Broad Walk, Pavilion Gardens, Buxton, Derbyshire, in an attic flat - contained in a large Victorian house. I was born in Beeston, Nottinghamshire and grew up, from the age of 1, in the North East in the posh part, north of Gosforth, getting on towards Morpeth - a stone's throw from the former Great North Road. I am a craft-worker and designer with a strong imagination, a penchant for hessian, a love for natural fibres, especially wool, and a plethora of colours. I have been knitting ever since I was 5, struggling to work out knitting patterns for my dolls from early 1960's blue Women's Weeklies. I mastered the art of crocheting, with the hlep of my aunt, when I was 11. In the past I have created lampshades and rugs and at the moment I am producing pictures of local scenes using rugwork which are both sensorially and visually stimulating. I have no children and I am not allowed to have animals, so there are no heartwarming pictures of me with my family or dog -  furry pictures are a substitute. I love watching fish in tanks, although not many people warm to them. I like the sound of words, which is why I have accummulated a few languages and woven with them.
